Writers aged 18 and over who are interested in joining up with like-minded folk are invited to meet at the Peoples’ Place program room on Thursday nights from 7-9:00. VON Antigonish Adult day Program offers therapeutic activities and caregiver respite will focus on wellness, socialization, recreation and rehabilitation. Adult day is for frail, elderly or house bound seniors and runs 9 am to 3 pm Wednesdays and Fridays at the JJ Carroll House. For more information call 863-3282.

The 875 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron meets Monday evenings (excluding holidays) from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. in the Antigonish Education Center, 30 Appleseed Drive,  Antigonish. Join the new chess club of the Antigonish Town and County Public Library. The club meets each Saturday morning from 10:30 am -11:30 am. and new members are welcome. For nformation contact the Antigonish Library at 863-4276.

The scrapbooking program for children continues each Saturday from 1 to 2 pm at the Pictou Public Library. Children aged seven and up are invited to create their own book of memories in this fun and informal program. Space is limited and supplies are provided at no cost. St. Martha’s Hospital Auxiliary is seeking used books for The “Gift Corner” book shelf. All donations of good used books will be gratefully accepted at the gift shop. Money raised by the volunteers at the Gift Shop is used to support St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.

The Antigonish SPCA has cats available for adoption. All have been spayed or neutered and are ready for a loving home. If you are looking for a wonderful addition to your family, and would like to give these cats the second chance they deserve, please call the Antigonish SPCA, 863-2111.

Blood collections at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital Monday to Friday, starting at 8 am to 1 pm. Emergency and urgent blood collections will remain unchanged. This change does not apply to the satellite clinic in Port Hood and Margaree. Their times remain unchanged, Port Hood: 8 to 10 am on Tuesdays, Margaree: 8 to 10 am on Wednesdays.

X-Men 7th Player

Sometimes three forwards, two defensemen and a goalie just isn’t enough. 989 XFM and the St. FX X-Men  need you to suit up and be that extra push, that 7th Player! The 989 XFM/St. FX X-Men 7th Player gets to hit the ice with the X-Men during a home game at the Keating Centre.  X-perience the pre-game skate and national anthem on the ice with the team and, of course, attend the game afterwards! Because every team needs a good young core, the 7th Player is open to kids 5-12 years old.
