2018 Special Olympics National Games in Antigonish gets a $1 million boost from Province

The province announced a one million dollar investment in order to support the 2018 Special Olympic Canada Summer games today. The contribution will be used to improve accessibility for athletes and the community as a whole at the Oland Centre.

Antigonish MLA Randy Delorey was on hand to make the announcement of funding. Delorey says having The National Summer Olympic games in Antigonish will be a major milestone; only major cities have hosted the game and no town has ever held the honour. Delorey says this investment has long term benefits for the town of Antigonish:

 

The Special Olympics Canada 2018 Summer Games will start at the end of July 2018 and run for 5 days. Delorey says the games will draw athletes, coaches and fans from across the country, and will have a great economic benefit for the area.
