Antigonish County native Maggie MacDonnell congratulated by local municipal officials on Global Teacher Prize honour

Recent Global Teacher Prize winner and former Afton resident has high praise from the people of her hometown. Maggie MacDonnell won the Global Teacher Prize, along with a 1 million dollar award to be used within her community.
Antigonish County Warden Russell Boucher says the county is very proud to see one of their own win such a prestigious award:
During the council meeting, MacDonnell was recognized by councillors for her outstanding contributions to the community of Salluit, Quebec. MacDonnell created a number of programs for boys and girls, including job mentorship and funds to assist with healthy meals.
