A former associate Pastor and St.FX employee has been charged in relation to Sexual Assault and Sexual Exploitation.

38-year-old Michael Oliver Fisher of Antigonish, was an associate Pastor in Upper Hammonds Plains at the time of the offence.

In August 2016, the RCMP Sexual Assault Unit initiated an investigation in to a complaint of a sexual assault and sexual explotation dating back to 2008. The female victim was 17-years-old at the time of the offence.

Fisher, Coordinator, African Descent Student Affairs has been placed on leave from St.FX. A university spokesperson says: “we take the safety and security of our campus community extremely seriously. We have no evidence or reason to believe the safety of our students was ever at risk. The alleged offence occurred in 2008 – well before Mr. Fisher’s arrival to StFX in 2014.”

Fisher is due in Halifax Court on July 25.
