A book co-edited by an Antigonish County priest that shares the lived experiences of Italians in Cape Breton is being re-issued.  “Italian Lives, Cape Breton Memories” was published in 1999 and is long out of print.    Cape Breton University Press has announced a new edition of the book will launched on Friday; an e-book is also available.
Father Evo DiPierro, who co-edited both the original book and the re-issue says the publication includes references to Italian families in Inverness and Richmond Counties.
DiPierro says work on the re-issue began last fall after Cape Breton University Press received renewed interest in the book from the Italian community.
There are close to three thousand Italians in Cape Breton. There’s been a strong Italian presence on the Island for more than 150 years.
