The two organizations will be sharing the former National Philatelic Centre on St. Ninian Street, following a renovation that is expected to be completed this fall.
Antigonish MLA and Finance Minister Randy Delorey has announced the province will provide more than 500-thousand dollars towards the 2.1 million dollar upgrade. Financial support from the federal government is expected soon. CACL Antigonish Executive Director Jeff Teasedale says moving to the new building will allow the Social Enterprise to grow.
The new centre will include a 62-hundred square foot auditorium, a commercial-sized kitchen, a bakery and small cafe, a woodshop serving seven supply stores, and 12-hundred square feet to house the legion and a mini-museum of military artifacts.
The manager of the Antigonish Legion, Alex Cameron says this is great news.
A purchase of the building from the federal government is expected to be finalized in the next couple of weeks.
