A family farm operation based out of Debert has won a major award. St. Joseph’s native Lauchie MacEachern and his wife Jolene, originally from Inverness County were finalists for the Atlantic Outstanding Young Farmers, an award they won this past weekend in Moncton. The family operates on 350 acres of cropland and run a 100 head purebred Holstein operation just outside Truro.

Lauchie and Jolene MacEachern bought the farm four years ago  with their three young children. Lauchie says operating a farm with his family is a very rewarding experience, especially while getting to watch his young family grow:

Being winners of the award means that Lauchie and Jolene will be heading to Penticton, British Colombia in November to attend a national event for young farmers. Jolene says she would like to thank the organizers of the Atlantic awards for their hard work in recognizing outstanding, young farmers.
