Environment Ministers approves expansion of Wind Farm partly owned by Town of Antigonish

The proposed expansion of a wind farm in West Hants partly owned by the Town of Antigonish has been
given the green light.  Alternative Resource Energy Authority, the official entity that operates the wind farm, registered the proposed expansion for an Environmental Assessment in November.  Other owners of the development include the Towns of Berwick and Mahone Bay.  The three municipal units are proposing to double the capacity of the wind farm by adding another seven turbines.
Last month, Environment Minister Margaret Miller requested additional information about the proposal.  The municipalities complied and the minister approved the expansion, subject to conditions yesterday.
