Festival Antigonish production “Little Thing, Big Thing” wins two Merritt Awards

One of the productions featured during the 2016 Festival Antigonish season has picked up two awards at Theatre Nova Scotia’s Robert Merritt Awards. The awards gala,
held last night in Halifax recognizes excellence in live professional theatre in the province.
The two awards for Festival Antigonish went to the comedy/thriller “Little Thing/Big Thing”. Francine Deschepper, who played Sister Martha McCann in the show won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. The second award to “Little Thing/Big Thing” went to Jeremy Webb for Outstanding Direction. The production was nominated for four Awards.
“Tompkinsville” from Fly A Kyte Productions, a show of interest to local audiences was also honoured last night. The play, about Father Jimmy Tompkins, one of the pioneers of the credit union and cooperative movement won for Outstanding Production by a New or Emerging Company and Best Original Score.
