A well-respected former Antigonish  journalist is getting some provincial recognition.  Gail MacDougall, who retired last December as the Sports Editor of the Antigonish Casket newspaper is one of ten Nova Scotia Women  to be honoured Saturday in Halifax at the second annual WomenActive Trendsetter Awards.  It recognizes individuals, programs, policies and leadership that help change culture, attitudes, programs and systems to enrich the lives of all women and girls.
MacDougall says she will receive the media award, for covering women in sports for the past four decades.  MacDougall says a career in sports journalism came quite by chance.
MacDougall says receiving the award is a great honour.  However, MacDougall won’t be able to attend the ceremony. At the same time the awards brunch is taking place, MacDougall will be on the sidelines, coaching her Under 18 girls basketball team at the provincials in Halifax
