Local residents among the winners at the Hockey Nova Scotia Awards

There were some local winners at the Hockey Nova Scotia Awards Banquet in Halifax over the weekend.  The Clary MacDonald Award for Coach of the Year was Kyle MacDonald of the Telus Cup Champion Cape Breton West Islanders.  The Islanders were also named Fred Fox Award winners as male team of the year. Bryan Smith of Antigonish picked up the Jacques Comeau Award for Rep coach of the year. The Ken Mantin Award for outstanding volunteer contribution to minor hockey was awarded to Clary Melanson of the Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets.  The Hal Lewis Award for Lifetime Achievement in Officiating went to Brian MacDonald of the Antigonish Minor Hockey Association.  The Registrar’s Award for promptness and efficiency in ensuring all players are registered went to Carla King of the Pictou County Minor Hockey Association.
