Over $100,000 has been awarded to a number of projects this year that supports conservation efforts for wild Atlantic Salmon in Eastern Canada. The Atlantic
Salmon Conservation Fund announced funding for several areas, including a few local projects.
The Cheticamp River Salmon Association received $9,500, Inverness South Anglers Association received $5,000 in funding and the Pictou County Rivers Association got $7,500 for conservation efforts.
The funding is provided through a trust fund, and each group helps improve the conservation status of salmon populations in their local river. It could be by improving fish habitat or stabilizing stream banks.
