Mulgrave withdraws application to dissolve

It appears Mulgrave will remain a town for now.  At a special meeting Wednesday night, town council has decided the municipality will withdraw its application to dissolve with the Utility and Review Board.  The Town was hoping to merge with the Guysborough District Municipality.  However  the regional municipality didn’t accept the province’s funding offer to assist Mulgrave in merging with the district.  The offer included money for dissolution costs and support for roads and infrastructure.  The province also agreed to maintain the 6.2 kilometre section of Route 344 that runs through the town.
Town Mayor Ralph Hadley says Mulgrave is now exploring options for the future.
A hearing was scheduled for March 20th to hear the town’s application for dissolution.  That hearing is expected to be cancelled.
