Orphaned Bear Cubs sent to Wildlife Parks

According to a release sent out by the Department of Natural Resources, two bear cubs found orphaned in Inverness county are safe, for now. DNR says in an email, that one cub has bee placed at Two Rivers Wildlife Park in Mira, which is already housing an orphaned cub. The other is being moved from the DNR office in Whycocomagh to the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park, which has experience housing and helping bears.
Inverness PC Candidate Allan MacMaster brought attention to social media after he heard that the mother of the cubs died after being electrocuted when climbing a pole. He worries about DNR bear handling policies moving forward however:
MacMaster calls this solution a ‘band-aid’ and he hopes that a permanent solution can be found so bears and their cubs aren’t euthanized.
