There will be two names on the ballot for a special election in the District of St. Mary’s to fill a vacant council seat.
Rennie Beaver and Kaytland Smith filed nomination papers by Tuesday deadline for the election in the District 3 and 5 council seat, which includes the Melrose, Aspen and Caledonia area.  Advance polls will be held on Saturday, March 11th and Tuesday, March 14th.  Regular polling day is Saturday, March 18th.
The special election was called following a decision by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia last month.  The court declared the results from last fall’s municipal election in that district void because of Municipal Elections Act violations.
Beaver and Smith were also the two candidates running in the district during last fall’s election.
