Scotia Days Festival “All Things Canadian”

Friday, July 7

6:30pm Robyn’s Run – Scotia Trail (by former shrimp plant). Kick off the Scotia Days Festival with a 5km walk/run along the trail. All running  levels welcome. Donations will be accepted in support of the Scotia Days Fireworks. Register on race day. A  limited amount of T-shirts will be available to purchase.

7:00pm – 1:00am Monte Carlo Night – “Casino Glitz” Mulgrave Fire Hall (ages 19+). 6th annual mock casino fundraiser in support of the  Mulgrave VFD and the Mulgrave RCL. Enjoy an evening of black-jack and  other games of chance. Admission is $20 per person which includes $20 of casino money. Purchase an advanced pass and it will be entered in a special draw for a prize valued at $100. Contact Evangeline Breen at 747-2601 or Kelly MacDonald at 747-2817. Supported by the NS Provincial Lotteries &    Casino Nova Scotia.

Saturday, July 8

1:00pm Adult Outdoor Volleyball Tournament – Athletic Field. Teams meet for a fun tournament. Ages 19+. Pre-register your team of 5 (at least 2 ladies) by calling the Rec. Dept.

1:00pm Memories of Mulgrave – Mulgrave Museum. Drop by the Museum for an afternoon reminiscing about Mulgrave past. Bring in your old photo albums, sit and enjoy some strawberry shortcake, tea/coffee, $7/person.

4:30pm – 6:30pm Steak BBQ – Legion Hall (all ages). Come and enjoy or take-out a BBQ-steak with fried  onions &  mushrooms, baked potato, kernel-corn, a bread roll and coffee or tea. You can  purchase an advance meal ticket at the Legion Hall from 10:00am-11:00am of the same day or by contacting Joan George at 227-5668 or just pay at the BBQ while the supplies last. $20 per meal.

8:00pm– 1:00am Fun Pool Tournament – Legion Bar (ages 19+). Consider this as a warm up to the Ambrose DeCoste Memorial Pool Tournament on Friday. There are 1st and 2nd place cash prizes based on the number of entries.  Tournament fee is $10/person.

10:00pm-2:00am Pub Night – Fire Hall (ages 19+). Enjoy an evening of both live and recorded music by Eastbound Entertainment. Id’s may be requested. Admission is $7.

Sunday, July 9

11:00am – 3:00pm Land & Sea Poker Run – Venus Cove Marina. Travel by boat, motorcycle, or car. Take pleasure in the scenic beauty of our coastline, best hand wins! $10/hand.  Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Rain date is Sunday, July 16th. Waivers must be signed by all participants. BBQ available. All proceeds in support of the Mulgrave Marina.

1:00pm Mini-Cribbage Card Play – Legion Hall (ages 19+). Get a partner and come to our regular Sunday afternoon mini-Cribbage Card Play. There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners  as well as Toonie Jars and a special Bonus Pot. The fee is $7 per person.

1:00pm The Dragon Walk – Scotia Trail. Families are welcome to join in the fun as we walk the trail to the library in search of the Dragon Doors, behind each door there will be a    treasure that relates to the story. The walk will end at the Library  where kids will hear the story about the dragon, and receive a prize and do a craft! Light refreshments provided. All youth must be accompanied by an adult.

6:00pm Adult Washer Toss Tournament – Athletic Field. Teams of 2 meet for a fun tournament. $10/team of 2. Pre-registration is required, first 20 teams to register.  Ages 19 years & up, cash prize!!

7:00pm Ecumenical Service Trinity United Church. Reception to follow.

Monday, July 10

1:00pm Seniors Washer Toss Tournament – Mulgrave Athletic Field. Teams of 2 meet for a fun tournament. $10/team of 2. Pre-registration is required, first 20 teams to register. Ages 55 years & up, cash prize!!

1:00pm Mental Aerobics – RSpace. Ages 10+ head to the RSpace to exercise your brain with fun games like Pictionary, Head Bandz, and snapchat.

6:00pm Ball Hockey Tournament – Multipurpose Courts. Ages 13-18 drop by the courts for a fun ball hockey tournament.

7:00pm   Variety Show & Youth Celebrations – Fire Hall.  Enjoy local talent and Celebrate our Youth.  We have some great entertainment including Gary Williams, Neil DeCoff, Julie Murphy, and more! Admission: $3/Adult, Seniors & Youth $1.50!

Tuesday, July 11

10:00am– 11:30am Kiddie Fun – Venus Cove and Marina. Pony rides, and activities for children 7 and under.

1:00pm  Seniors Carpet Bowling – Fire Hall. Meet  for a fun carpet bowling tournament! Teams picked from a hat.

1:00pm  Youth Washer Toss Tournaments – Athletic Field. Teams of 2 meet for a fun tournament, $5/team of 2.  Ages 8-13 and 14-18 years, cash prizes!!

6:00pm Reunion Ball Tourney – Athletic Field. Calling all ball players and coaches from the past and  present! Meet at the field for a fun ball tourney. Ages 19+

9:00pm Kitchen Party – Fire Hall. Grab a chair or dance up a storm and celebrate a good old fashioned    kitchen party! Bring your instrument or singing voice and enjoy the open mic. Ages 19+ Chicken wings & nachos will be available.

Wednesday, July 12

12:00pm  Seniors Social – Mulgrave Marina.  Ages 55+. Enjoy a cold plate then try your hand at a game of cards. Registration is required. Admission is a donation at the door.

1:00pm—2:15pm Pool Party & BBQ – Mulgrave Pool. Ages 7 & under.  Music and hot dogs provided.

2:30pm—3:45pm Pool Party & BBQ – Mulgrave Pool.  Ages 8-12. Music and hot dogs provided.

6:00pm  Amazing Race Adult & Youth Divisions – Teams of two meet at the Fire Hall for a foot race around town. Adult is ages 16+ & Youth is 12-15 years old. $100 cash prize for each division! 1st 8 teams of 2 to preregister in each division.

7:30pm 45 Card Play – Legion Hall (ages 19+). Get a partner and enjoy our last 45 Card Play of the regular season. There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, Toonie Jars and a special Bonus Pot. The fee is $7 per person.

8:00pm Trivia Night – Legion Hall (ages 19+). Teams (of four) will square off in a fun evening of Trivia! Fee is $5/person. Cash prize for winners. Drop in even if you don’t have a team, we can put you on one.

7:00pm– 8:15pm Teen Pool Party & BBQ – Mulgrave Pool. Ages 13-18. Music and hot dogs provided.

Thursday, July 13

1:00pm Youth Painting with Linda Ryan – RSpace. Ages 10+ drop by the RSpace for a fun afternoon painting with  instruction by Linda Ryan. Fee is $15 all supplies included. Pre-registration is required.

6:00pm Horseshoe Tournament – Athletic Field (ages 19+). Partners gather for a fun horseshoe tournament. $10/team of two, cash prize for winners.

6:00pm –7:15pm Kiddie Dance – Fire Hall. Ages 7 and under.  FREE admission. Canteen items and glow sticks will be available to purchase.  Music by DJ.

7:30pm – 8:45pm Preteen Dance – Fire Hall.  Ages 8-12 years. Admission is $1.50. Canteen items and glow sticks will be available to purchase.  Music by DJ!

9:00pm— 11:30pm  Teen Dance – Fire Hall.  Ages 13-18 years. Admission is $3. Music by DJ! Doors close at 10:00pm. Parents/RCMP will be contacted immediately if inappropriate behavior is displayed.

Friday, July 14

11:00am Rescue 911 – Athletic Field. Youth and families drop by the athletic field to talk to local RCMP, EHS, and Fire Department members about their role in helping keep us safe.

2:00pm Family Roundup – Families gather at the Mulgrave Look Off to start your journey down the trail! You can bike or walk, it’s not a race. Stop at different locations to  collect your animal cards. Prizes for the best set of animals! Helmets required for bikers. All ages welcome.

5:30pm  Senior’s Amazing Race (55+) – Teams of two meet at the Fire Hall for challenges around town, this is not a race, motorized vehicles are permitted. Ages 55+. $100 cash prize!

7:00pm Second Annual Ambrose DeCoste Memorial Pool Tournament – Legion Hall (ages 19+). Get a partner and come to the second annual memorial pool tournament in honor of our late life-time member Ambrose DeCoste. There are 1st and 2nd place cash prizes based on the number of entries.  Tournament fee is $10 per person (tables included).

7:30pm Paint Night with Linda Ryan – Legion Hall (ages 19+).  Enjoy a fun evening of painting, instructed by Linda Ryan. Pre-registration is required. Fee is $25/person, all supplies included.

Saturday, July 15

7:30am – 9:30am Pancake Breakfast Mulgrave Fire Hall. Homemade pancakes and maple syrup made just for you. Non-perishables for food bank accepted. Organized by Mulgrave Town Council.

8:30am – 12:00pm Annual Book Sale Library. This year’s giant book sale will be held in the basement of the Library. There will be something for everyone including fiction, hard covers, paper-backs, adult, children’s books and a terrific selection including best-sellers and favourite authors.

11 a.m. Parade. Parade beings at the Fire Hall, down Murray Street, down Stafford Street and Main Street, to Venus Cove. Contact the Recreation Department to per-register your entry. Float prizes will be awarded in several categories. New this year, a $200 prize will be randomly selected from the “decorated float entries” as a thank you for your hard work. Starting working on your float today and show your community spirit. Great items for auction following the parade at Venus Cove Park.

12 to 3 p.m. Community Fair. Exciting bouncers for kids ($5/bracelet). Crown & Anchor and snow snow cones are extra. A BBQ is available is support of the St. Anglican Church.

10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Adult Dance Fire Hall. Celebrate Scotia Days and have a great time at the dance. Ages 19+. Tickets $10/person. Music by DJ Gerald MacIntyre. Tickets will be available at the Mulgrave Town Office beginning Wednesday, July 12, max 6 tickets/person. Limited amount of tickets will be available and will sell fast!

Sunday, July 16

Entertainment, Krista and Jay Luddington. An amazing Fireworks display to follow. A BBQ will be available .
