Several local students win prizes at St. FX Spring Convocation

Two local students picked up major academic awards at St. FX Spring Convocation.  Laura Lee Burns of Antigonish was named co-winner of the University Gold Medal in Nursing for the highest average in the final three years of study.
Burns also won the Dr. Winston Jackson Honours Research Award.
The University Gold Medal in Human Nutrition was awarded to Jane Elizabeth Stephenson of Lyon’s Brook.  She also was named winner of the Sir James Dunn Foundation IDI Scholarship.
Other local prize winners included Nukhalu Callaghan-Patrachar for the Wallbank-Weingarhofer Prize for Experimental Physics, Caitlan MacLean of Mabou for the Academic Vice President and Provost Award for Student Nurse Leadership, and Pauline Liengme for the Dr. Annette Ahern Memorial Essay Prize in Religious Studies.  Brian James MacLeod of Baddeck received the Ambassador of Austria Book Prize for German and the Father Malcolm MacDonnell Award in Celtic Studies.
