April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, as the town of Antigonish will recognize the occasion with a proclamation signing this Friday. Members of the community are invited to see the signing of the proclamation, where local dignitaries have also been invited.
Heather Blackburn, Program Coordinator for the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre says Sexual Assault Awareness Month is an important time to create awareness around the prevention of sexual assault. Blackburn says the Proclamation event will be the start of a busy month:
The event takes place Friday, 10:00 at the People’s Place Library and will have members from the Antigonish Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program, as well as the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre. All are welcome to attend.
