There will be a large contingency of athletes visiting  this weekend from across the province, and Atlantic region. Antigonish will be hosting the Special Olympics Nova Scotia provincial games through the weekend, with many events taking place at St. FX University.
Ann Marie Shannon is in charge of Events and Communications with Special Olympics NS as well as director. She says that the town will be bustling with activity all weekend long:
Events are also scheduled to happen at the Antigonish Golf and Country Club and at the baseball diamond behind the Dr. JH Gillis school. These events of course help determine which athletes will compete at the Special Olympic nationals, which will also be held in Antigonish next year.
