X-Women Harvey to Compete for National Rugby Team

A member of the St. F. X Women’s Rugby team will be competing for Canada’s National Seven’s Team this weekend. Fullback Magali Harvey will be wearing the team Canada jersey for the Marriot London Sevens Tournament this weekend and the Amsterdam Sevens Tournament on May19th.The former A-U-S Rookie of the year in 2010 is a two time C-I-S All Canadian who was also named a C-I-S tournament all-star – helping the X-Women win the national championships. The Quebec City native will be joined on the squad by another notable name around St. F. X; X-Women Alumnus Ghislaine Landry. Landry still holds the A-U-S all-time scoring record for both points and tries.

Stoirm Volleyball wins Bronze at Championships

The Antigonish Stoirm Under 14 Girls Tier 2 volleyball team captured the bronze medal at the Volleyball Nova Scotia Provincial Championships held at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax on the weekend. They defeated the Sackville Sonics in three sets to take Bronze. Brianna MacGillivray of the Antigonish Stoirmwas named All-Star.

Local figure Skater does well at Cole Harbour Ice show

Stacey Wallace from the Antigonish Figure Skating Club was a major award winner at the 2012 Skate Canada award ice show in Cole harbor on Saturday. The 13 year old won the Skate Nova Scotia Competitive athlete of the Year award for the province and was also added to the Skate Canada Grade of Execution Wall of Fame at the Cole Harbor Place.
