History is being made today. Take a listen:

Tammy Landry, Strait Regional Representative Chair for the NSTU, was speaking. 9,300 public school teachers are walking the picket lines today protesting new legislation that is being passed.  The disputed government bill would impose a four-year contract on educators and end their work-to-rule campaign. But teachers say the bill does nothing to address deteriorating classroom conditions.

The Liberal government is expected to continue pushing Bill 75 through the legislature after the law amendments committee heard testimony from teachers and members of the public on Thursday. Tammy says listening to the testimonies was very emotional:

Premier Stephen McNeil has said his governing Liberals have tried to negotiate an agreement with the teachers over the past 16 months, and continuing negotiations will only lead to ongoing disruption in the classroom.
