In the Q League, Logan Chisholm was one of five different scorers as the Acadie Bathurst Titan defeated Saint John 5-3. In other games, Charlottetown beat Moncton 4-1, and Cape Breton was trounced 10-2 by the Halifax Mooseheads.


NS Junior League Exhibition games today… the Junior Miners face the Strait Pirates at 4pm.

Tonight, the Bulldogs host the Scotians at 7:30 at the Antigonish Arena – seating is limited, and only 5 tickets are allowed per order. In the U15 Major Hockey League, the Novas lost 7-4 to the Gulls at the Antigonish Arena, while the Wearwell Bombers trounced the Dartmouth Whalers 6-2.

In today’s action, the Novas are at the Keating Centre hosting Dartmouth at 12:30, and the Bombers host the Gulls at 11:30 at the Wellness Centre.


In the Maritime League, the Pictou County Weeks Crushers outscored the South Shore Lumberjacks 6-4 at the Wellness Centre.


The Weeks U18 Majors beat Cole Harbour 5-3, while the Cape Breton West Islanders fell 5-1 to the Halifax McDonalds.

Today, the teams meet again: it’s Weeks vs the Wolfpack in Cole Harbour at 11:15, while in Halifax the Islanders play the Macs at 12:30.


In the Maritime Major Female Hockey League, the Northern Subway Selects tied the Station Six Fire 3-3 in the first part of a home and home series. The teams meet today at the Pictou County Wellness Centre at 3.


The Cabot Highlanders easily took their first win of the regular season, defeating Voyageurs HC 4-1. Damon MacDonald and Brady MacNeil each scored twice for the Highlanders.


NATIONAL SPORTS

The Tampa Bay Rays pulled off a stunning rally in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 and tie the World Series at two games apiece. Brett Phillips hit a soft single that Dodgers outfielder Chris Taylor bobbled as the tying run scored. Dodgers catcher Will Smith then lost control of the ball at home plate which allowed Randy Arozarena to score the winning run for Tampa Bay.


The Vancouver Whitecaps scored twice in the second half to edge the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1. Ali Adnan and Tosaint Ricketts scored both goals for Vancouver as they are now level with San Jose on points in seventh place in the Western Conference. Toronto F-C and Montreal both played last night but lost their games.


Race horse Belichick won the Breeders’ Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack for his first career victory. But it came at the expense of stablemate Mighty Heart who sought to become the first Canadian Triple Crown winner in over 15 years. Deviant and Clayton finished in second and third respectively.
