Following the 2024 provincial election, only two Liberal candidates earned seats; Iain Rankin and Derek Mombourquette. In December, Rankin was named interim leader for the Liberals. Since becoming interim leader, Rankin said he’s been asking for a comprehensive economic strategy to chart a long term path forward.
As for the next 12 months, he said there is a leadership race on the horizon while he and Mombourquette continue to work in the legislature. He said they are trying to press for a more transparent government while also providing alternate solutions to big issues, such as the cost of living, escalating power bills, or housing.
