A Second St. FX Student Tests Positive for COVID-19

Jan 9, 2021 | Local News

There is a second positive COVID-19 test result on the St. FX University campus.    In a letter to the campus community, St. FX University president Andy Hakin says the school was notified by Nova Scotia Public Health on Friday evening.  The student arrived on Tuesday and was tested the same day.  Hakin says as with the first case, the student has been properly isolating in residence since arrival and continues to follow the prescribed safety protocols.  The two positive cases appear to be unrelated.

Hakin says the university’s plans have been fully enacted, including activating the necessary supports for the student, and the risk of the overall community remains low.

Public Health is managing tracing of close contacts.  Hakin says the university has also reached out to anyone considered a low-risk contact to ensure they are informed.
