The Aberdeen Health Foundation wrapped up 2025 with a funding announcement for the six Pictou County Branches of the Pictou Antigonish Regional Library.
A release form the foundation states the $130,000 investment, over its 2025 and 2026 fiscal years, will support a wide range of programming at the six Picotu County branches of the library.

Dr. Pat Craig, population health committee chair for the Aberdeen Health Foundation, said they feel the library is perfect partners for delivering health related programming. She said they are accessible, free, and welcome anyone.
Craig said the funding has three tiers. The first tier involves supporting existing library programming, with tier 2 looking at programming for at-risk populations, and tier 3 is for programming targeting socially isolated seniors.
The release states the funding will help enhance familiar programs like family story times, reading clubs, and social groups like knitting circles. Planned programming includes cooking and literacy programs for families, art and music workshops for people with sight loss, conversation circles for newcomers, and monthly library clubs that combine social connection with practical health and wellness learning.
