Active transportation in Antigonish got a boost from three levels of government.
Yesterday, the province announced more than $1.3 million in funding to build two kilometres of
new multi-use pathways and active transportation bridges in the Town of Antigonish, with the goal of establishing a connected active transportation network.
Antigonish MLA Randy Delorey was on hand for the announcement at Columbus Field.
Mayor Laurie Boucher says council has responded to the needs of residents, and that the trail system can be used by everyone.
Fraser noted the importance of local infrastructure.
The federal government is investing more than $1.6 million and the Town of Antigonish is contributing more than $1 million to the project, which will also connect to the Nova Scotia Blue Route cycling network.
