Antigonish County Deputy Warden asks Residents to Review Assessment Notices they will be Receiving Soon

Jan 14, 2026 | Local News

Antigonish County Council is again reminding residents to check their mail for their 2026 property assessment notices. Property Valuation Services Corporation issued the assessments this week and residents have until February 12 to appeal.

PVSC, the province’s independent, municipally funded not-for-profit assessment authority performs the assessments, with the values reflecting market conditions as of January 1, 2025. Deputy Warden John Dunbar asked residents to look at the assessments and make sure everything is in order.

This year’s assessment roll reached $206.3 billion; up 8 per cent. It’s the first time assessments have surpassed the $200 billion in the province’s history. The Capped Assessment Program rate is 2.6 per cent, up from 1.5 per cent last year. About 72 per cent of properties qualify for the CAP, which limits the amount the taxable assessed value can increase year over year.
