As we are in the middle of hurricane season, and with Hurricane Lee potentially heading to the Atlantic provinces, Antigonish County Warden Owen McCarron is asking residents to take precautions.
The county recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Heatherton Community Centre for the centre to be used as a comfort station and potentially an emergency shelter. Council previously supported the purchase of an emergency generator for the facility, which McCarron said is in the works.
McCarron said it is important to have such stations set up and they are looking at a couple of other locations as well.
