Antigonish County Warden Says Other Options being Explored Following Cancellation of Santa Claus Parade

Following the swearing in of county council on Monday, Warden Owen McCarron said cancelling the area`s annual Christmas parade was a tough decision.

Yesterday, the Town of Antigonish announced the decisions to cancel the annual Santa Claus Parade and tree lighting event due to COVID-19. A release from the town states they made the decision after careful consideration while following the advice of public health.

The release also stated the Town and County of Antigonish along with a team of partners, are working on developing a revised list of events including a Drive-In Movie, Santa’s Neighbourhood Christmas Tour, a Story-Book Walk and Santa Shuffle Fun Run.
