Antigonish Highland Games Festivities begin tonight with the first of four straight performances of the Ships of 1801 Society’s Father Moases Coady and the Sisters of St. Martha Go to the Keppoch. Sunday, July 5 will include the new Fiddlers Fondo bike event, the StFX President’s dinner, and the opening church service for the games.
Monday, July 6 will include a concert at St. Ninian’s Cathedral and a play Gaelic soccer camp, while Tuesday, July 7 will include a Culloden memorial Ceremony.
Wednesday, July 8, will include the Kilted golf tournament, the annual Stroll the Main Street fair, while Thursday will see a ceilidh at the Museum, and tunes in the big tent session in support of a local Celtic music school.

Friday will feature a slate of event at Columbus Field including the Tir Nan Og athletic activities, the five – mile road race, a soccer match at STFX field involving the Halifax Wanderers u21s and Alba FA from Scotland, an Antigonish Art fair, and the Concert Under the Stars .
Saturday and Sunday will feature highland games, bagpiping and drumming, heavyweight events, ceilidhs , and the tug of war.
Dan Cochrane, with the Antigonish Highland Society, said there has been a lot of interest in the Highland Games already this year.
