The mayor says the town may be looking at a small surplus.
Following Last night’s regular meeting of Antigonish Town Council, Mayor Laurie Boucher said the town is, for the moment, close to $30,000 under budget. However, there is still time left in the fiscal year so things may change. She said she would be surprised however if the town went over budget.
Looking ahead, Boucher said the budget for the upcoming year is at the staff level, adding nothing has come to the council table yet.
Boucher said they are hoping to adopt the budget by early May. When asked if there are any big ticket items she would like to see included, Boucher said the town is looking at doing something with the tennis courts, adding the dog park is set to open this spring as well. She also mentioned street paving and general infrastructure funding
