Antigonish MLA and Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson
Thompson said she is pleased with some of the local provincial investments, noting one of her favourite events of 2025 was the announcement in June of a 104-space early learning and child care Centre at STFX and a 40-seat centre in Pomquet.
Thompson said she is excited about the opening of a new primary care clinic in the new year in Antigonish, adding she also attended the sod turning for the new RK MacDonald facility. The MLA also pointed to the recent opening of 17 affordable housing units recently opened on Appleseed Drive in Antigonish.
Thompson said it’s been great to be in the community, noting she attended the provincial Special Olympics in Antigonish last summer, as well as the Antigonish Highland Games. She also gave a shout-out to local 4H, noting she attended this year’s ROOTED gala, which saw representation from the Antigonish town and county, as well as STFX.
