Antigonish Skatepark project a finalist in a National Contest

A planned skatepark in Antigonish is in the hunt for $250,000 in a national contest.

The skatepark, to be located near the former Antigonish County Municipal building on West Street, is one of four finalists in the Kraft Heinz Project Play contest. To the winner goes 250-thousand dollars for a recreational facility upgrade. The other three finalists will receive 25-thousand dollars.

The total cost of the project is $700,000;  $200,000 of which has already been donated. The town has already confirmed its funding contribution, leaving about $167,000 for the Antigonish Skatepark Collective to raise on its own.

Votes for the four finalists will be accepted until Friday night at kraftheinzprojectplay.com.

TSN and RDS will announce the winner on October 28th during half-time of its broadcast of the Toronto-Montreal football game.
