More work is needed to complete Phase 1 of the work on Bay Street, with Mayor Sean Cameron noting another layer of asphalt and sidewalk work needs to be done in the Spring. On the north side of the street there will be sidewalk and on the south side, the side of the former Webbs Superstore, there will be an active transportation lane and sidewalk between the bridge and tracks. There also needs to be more excavation work under the railway tracks for a sewer line to go through.

With the severe delays caused during the work in the area in December and November, Cameron spoke about how the town wants to avoid that this time around.
He said they are hoping the work will begin in April or May.
As for Phase 2, work from the tracks to past the hospital, Cameron said it could be delayed until they come up with an alternative route. He said council hasn’t made a decision yet but Cameron said, personally, he wants to delay until the route is in place. Speaking about an alternative route, Cameron said it would done in consultation with the county, and the provincial and federal governments. He said MP Jaime Battiste and MLA Michelle Thompson both reached out asking how they can help with the situation, adding both see the need for a new access to the hospital.
As for West Street, Cameron said it is almost done except for some sidewalk work on one side and another layer of asphalt. For James Street, they have to dig up the road to install new sewer lines, which he said should take one or two days of digging and moving the street to one lane traffic.
