Antigonish Town Council approved first reading to a amendments to the municipal planning strategy and land use by-law in regards to Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) densification. Council voted 5-1 in favour of the motion with Mayor Sean Cameron voting against.

Cameron explained said the town has to make certain arrangements in order to qualify for the HAF, with the funding provided to improve infrastructure in order to accommodate more housing. He explained the intent of the by-law is to allow for people to put accessory dwelling units on their properties.
Second reading is set for next month, as is a public hearing
