Antigonish Town Council dealt with a tax relief request during a meeting last night.
Antigonish Mayor Sean Cameron explained council received complaints from some residents who expressed frustration after having paid their tax bill online on June 30 but because of a holiday the following day, the payments weren’t received until later and some of those residents were charged interest. Council passed a motion to offer a three day grace period for residents who paid online and are able to provide proof the transaction was initiated on June 30.
