Antigonish Town Hall and Public Works Building to remain closed

Apr 1, 2020 | Local News

The Town of Antigonish is extending the closure of its Town Hall and the Public Works Building until further notice. The town based the decision on directives set by the province and public health officials.

The Town says there will not be any disruption to essential services, including power, water, sewer, curbside pick-up and any necessary winter maintenance. Those with outstanding service payments owed to the Town can pay online or phone 902-863-2351 and press 0 to speak with a staff person during regular business hours.

Recreation facilities such as the Skatepark, Columbus Field, Chisholm Park, Central Field and the Challenger Baseball Field are closed and RCMP have the discretion to fine any residents using these facilities. The Landing Trail remains open for public use; however, residents must follow physical distancing rules and stay 2 meters/6 feet apart and groups of 5 or more are not permitted.

While the Eastern District Planning Commission offices remain closed, they will continue to receive applications, process files, issue permits and complete inspections. Applications can continue to be received by mail and inspections can be arranged. Those with questions for the EDPC can call 902-625-5361.
