Mabou native and illustrator Kate Beaton is being recognized in a new stamp from Canada Post.
It’s part of a series of six stamps by Canada Post celebrating the work of Canada’s best-loved graphic novelists.

Beaton is being recognized for her autobiographical book “Ducks:Two Years in the Oil Sands”. It depicts her experience working in the oil sands in northern Alberta. Beaton’s book was the first graphic novel to win “Canada Reads”, an annual literary competition sponsored by the CBC, in 2023.
Beaton is one of six illustrators featured in this collection. Each illustrator worked with Canada Post to create and original drawing featuring a main character from one of their most celebrated works.
