Campaign Begins to Encourage St. FX Students to Vote in Federal Election

Sep 26, 2019 | Local News

A campaign aimed at encouraging St. FX students to vote in this fall’s federal election begins tomorrow. It’s part of a nation-wide effort called “Get Out The Vote”, a non partisan movement intended to motivate post-secondary students to cast their ballot.

St. FX Students Union Vice President External, Sarah Elliot, says tomorrow afternoon’s kick off at 4:30 outside the Bloomfield Centre is a meet-and-greet. There will be information on where and how to vote, and an opportunity to meet five of the six candidates running in Central Nova in the federal election.

Elliot says it’s critical the voices of students are heard in this election.

Events scheduled include a two all candidates debates, vote pledges, vote pop-ups at campus residences, an information session called Democracy 101 and a politics trivia night
