Central Nova MP Sean Fraser expects to see announcements soon in smaller communities on federal incentives aimed at encouraging more housing development.

Fraser, who is also the federal Housing Minister, says a four billion dollar fund has been created to incentivize municipalities on how homes get built. Fraser says there are a number of causes behind the housing crisis, but some are tied to how long it takes for builders to get through the process of getting a building permit, and some communities only allow single family dwellings to be constructed on a given lot.
Fraser says if incentives can be provided to municipalities to reduce red tape and make it easier to build different types of homes to provide space for people in need, or who have the ability to rent or buy a home but can’t find one on the market, the housing crisis can be solved.
