PC candidate Claude Bourgeois has been confirmed elected the MLA for the new provincial riding of Chéticamp-Margarees-Pleasant Bay. That validation was announced Thursday by Elections Nova Scotia after reviewing the results in what they call the Official Addition. Results have been posted on the Elections Nova Scotia web site.
The official results don’t change the totals for any candidate from the unofficial results announced Tuesday evening, following the closure of polls.
Bourgeois, a local businessman, garnered 1,315 votes in Tuesday’s by-election.
Runner-up Denis Cormier of the Liberals received 1,080 votes. The NDP’s Trevor Poirier had 258, and Green Party candidate Nik Boisvert received the support of 44 voters.
The total number of ballots cast was 2,729.
The deadline for an application to a judge for a recount of the by-election is Monday.
