areas but they need to take action on items such as climate and building an economy for the future. That’s part of the reason he is running for the Liberal leadership.
First elected to the House of Assembly in 2013 and re-elected in 2017, Rankin served as minister of Environment and minister of Lands and forestry. He feels he has the background and vision to make sure Nova Scotia capitalizes on its opportunities.
With COVID-19 still a factor, Rankin said he’s had to make adjustments to the campaign.
Rankin, who was born in Mabou and grew up in Timberlea, says the immediate focus is on winning the leadership. Should he win the leadership, there would be a number of things to go over prior to the next provincial election, such as making sure the party has strong candidates from one end of the province to the other.
