Community Fence of Fame launched at Sandlot Baseball Field

Nov 5, 2020 | Local News

It’s a new initiative with some well known names attached.

Randy Crouse, coordinator for Antigonish Challenger Baseball, announced Dwayne Russell and Oliver Smith as the first names on the Community Fence of Fame at the Sandlot baseball field. Crouse explained the field was intended for community use and now that it’s complete, they wanted to push the community idea further.

With Antigonish not having a sports hall of fame, Crouse wanted something to recognize those who made a difference in the community through sport and physical activity. The Community Fence of Fame was born and will feature signs displayed on the outfield fencing acknowledging the inductees.

In the future, the plan is to develop an official election and selection process.
