Disposal of Hazardous Household Waste Made Easier in Antigonish County

The county is looking to make getting rid of hazardous household material easier for residents.

During Monday’s regular town council meeting, Antigonish Town Council decided to partner with the Municipality of the County of Antigonish in a hazardous waste facility at Beech Hill.

Warden Owen McCarron said county hosted an annual hazardous waste cleanup once a year with the town. This year McCarron said there were requests to have something on a permanent basis and the county decided to bring in a container capable of holding such waste at their Beech Hill landfill site.

McCarron said the county will cost share the container with the town. As things build up throughout the year, the county will bring in people capable of disposing of the materials.
