The District of St. Mary’s is taking steps towards filling a vacancy on municipal council. 
On Monday, council will consider a recommendation from its Committee of the Whole, setting the date of January 16th for the Special Election for the District 8 seat. Committee of the Whole made the recommendation at its meeting Wednesday night.
Voting in this Special Election will be electronic, ballots will be cast either via the internet or over the phone from noon January 9th until the polls close at 7 p.m on January 16th. It’s proposed Nomination Day will be December 22nd.
The District 8 seat on council became vacant after Peggy Kaiser-Kirk resigned last Friday. Kaiser-Kirk served eight years on council and was re-elected by acclamation in last month’s municipal election.
