Driver from Antigonish County Charged in Connection with a Four Vehicle Crash in Halifax County

Halifax District RCMP have charged a driver from Antigonish County following a four vehicle crash on Highway 7 in Preston on Saturday evening.

Police say around 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a crash in the 1900 block of Highway 7. The collision involved two SUV’s and two cars. Police investigators say a red car veered into oncoming traffic and struck another car and then two SUV’s.

The passenger in the red car, a 36-year-old woman from Truro was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Five other people involved in the crash were checked and released at the scene.

Police say the driver of the red car showed signs of impairment and was arrested without incident. RCMP say 35-year-old Morris James Lanceleve has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Driving over the Legal Limit  and seven counts of Failing to Comply with a Recognizance. Further charges are pending.

Highway 7 was closed for several hours while a collision analyst was at the scene.
