The Warden of Guysborough says the effort to recruit doctors to the area continues.
Back in April, the Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) announced a $100,000

District of Guysborough Warden Vernon Pitts
incentive for each new recruited doctor willing to sign onto a five-year return of service contract to be a full-time practitioner at one of or both of two county hospitals, Guysborough Memorial Hospital and/or Eastern Memorial Hospital in Canso.
When asked where the recruitment drive is at the moment, Guysborough Warden Vernon Pitts said he didn`t want to get his hopes up but he understands there are couple of doctors who signed on for the area who will be moving in eventually. He said they expect to see one in the next month or so.
When asked how many doctors the county wants for the area, Pitts said they would like to see a minimum of four doctors in Guysborough and couple down in Canso. As for whether that is realistic, Pitts said he isn`t sure.
