In what Warden Robert Parker says is a first for him, the Municipality of Pictou County

recognized a family pet for heroism.
In December, Waterside couple Liam & Renee-Kilburn Greene were awoken by their 18-month old German Shepherd Athena, alerting them to a fire on their front porch. Fire crews responded and were able to put the fire out – the Greenes were treated for smoke inhalation but were otherwise unharmed.
