Federal Fisheries officers have arrested seven people and seized 3,854 pounds of gaspereau, an ATV and fishing and storage equipment in Grand River, Richmond County. The incident occurred on June first.
Department officials say fishery officers used a drone to determine fishing was being conducted 23 metres downstream from the entrance of a fish ladder and retaining more than the daily recreational bag and possession limit for gaspereau, which is 20 fish per person in Nova Scotia.

DFO says to get to the bottom of the ladder, the individuals cut through a large fence with signage reminding the public that fishing within 23 metres downstream of fishways, obstructions or leaps is not permitted.
