Fire guts Apartment Building In New Glasgow; Police Charge Man in Connection with the Blaze

New Glasgow Police say a 21-year-old man was arrested following a fire overnight at a ten-unit apartment complex on Forbes Street.
Police say about 13 people were displaced in the fire.  No one was hurt.  However, police say several domestic pets died in the blaze.   Red Cross volunteers are assisting the

displaced tenants of the building with purchases of food, clothing and other basics.  Red Cross has also arranged emergency lodging for most of the residents of that building.

The complex sustained extensive damage.
New Glasgow and Trenton Firefighters were called to the blaze.
Police say the 21-year-old New Glasgow man charged in the case faces a number of counts including Arson, Assault, Uttering Threats, Failing to Comply with an Undertaking, Possession of Controlled Substance and Injuring or endangering animals.
